The Privilege of Studying the Bible
William Tyndale dedicated his life to translate the Bible into English so that it could be read by anyone. He was caught in England distributing copies of this Bible.
In 1536, William Tyndale was killed and his body burned for translating the Bible into English. His dying words were "Lord, open the King of England’s eyes..." A few years later this prayer was answered when the King of England ordered the publishing of Bibles based on Tyndale's work. The King James Version of the Bible was largely based on his translation. Many people have sacrificed and given their lives for us to be able to read the God Inspired words of the Bible.
We have the awesome privilege to read and study the word of God for ourselves. We should not take for granted our freedom to study this book.
The Bible reveals to us the author. Without study of the Bible it is impossible to know God as he intended.
